Where's my Six Pack?
You're hitting the gym heavily, you're doing all the crunches and sit ups you can handle, but you're still not seeing the abs that you want and you don't know what else to do. I'm going to elaborate on some of the most simple things you can switch up in order to get the abs that you want and start living a healthier life.
So how do I get abs?
I can honestly say that abs are 100% made in the kitchen. Did you know that most of the foods you buy in stores that are packaged contain minimal nutrients and tons of fats and cholesterol. It's so important to watch what you're eating and what ingredients are in your foods. These are the things that are holding you back from reaching your full potential in the gym and getting the results and body you desire.
I'm an avid gym goer and have been consistent with my workouts for over six months. For years I've been in and out of the gym but never as consistent as the last six months. The main thing that frustrated me were that I was putting the work in with my workouts, building a sweat and really burning a lot of calories. I also would max out my weight on every exercise that I did. It even got to the point where I ramped up my exercise workouts from three to five times a week. I STILL WASN'T GETTING THE RESULTS FROM JUST THESE EFFORTS ALONE! Yep, you heard right. I looked the exact same after six months of hard work with minimal differences in my shape. I had to ask myself, what could it be? Then I started looking at what I was eating, when I was eating and researching everything about food and nutrition. Little did I know was that I was counteracting my gym efforts with a terrible diet. And I can honestly say that no matter how hard you work out, a bad diet will look as if you've done NOTHING!
You are what you eat
After seeing my efforts wasted, I had to make a change. I had to look at the nutrition facts of every food I digested, come up with a plan to eat healthy meals throughout the day, and make sure I was getting the proper amount of protein and healthy carbs in a given day. The statement is true when they say that you are what you eat! Snacks, chips and processed foods help you build slim to no healthy weight, muscle gains or efficient nutrients pre or post workouts.
Why Nutrition is Important
Going to the gym is just simply not enough. If you want to see real improvements you must change your diet as well. Working out and living a healthier life is a lifestyle change and it takes small changes to form as a habit and eventually become regular and natural. Some would say that nutrition is more important than actual working out and I would have to agree with that statement. So I would suggest that you start with replacing those processed fats and refined sugars with fruits, vegetables and healthy fats. You must have a good and healthy nutritional balance with your workout routines or it will all be in vain. And no one wants to waste time and energy, especially at the gym!
